Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 26, 2026
1. Overview
Peaks Companion is a validation experiment (fake-door landing page) testing whether organizers of self-organized group treks would pay for a logistics app. We collect minimal data and are committed to your privacy.
2. Data controller
Nicola Neri — the person responsible for this experiment and how your data is handled.
3. What data we collect
Email addresses
When you click "Reserve early access" and submit your email, we collect:
- Your email address — so we can notify you if/when Peaks Companion launches
- The source of your click — which button/section you used (e.g., "hero", "pricing", "nav") to understand user flow
- Timestamp — when you submitted the form
Emails are stored in Tally.so, a form-backend service. See Tally's privacy policy for details on how they handle data.
Analytics data
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the landing page. Google Analytics collects:
- Pages visited and time spent
- Device type, browser, and approximate location (country/city level, not precise)
- User interactions (clicks, scrolls)
Google Analytics does not collect personally identifiable information by default. Learn more in Google's privacy policy.
What we do NOT collect
- No cookies for tracking or profiling
- No storage of passwords or sensitive personal data
- No contact information beyond your email (no phone, address, etc.)
- No behavioral tracking across other websites
4. Why we collect data
- Email: To notify you if Peaks Companion launches or to share updates on the experiment
- Analytics: To measure interest (click-through rates, visitor count) and validate the hypothesis that trek organizers would pay for this tool
5. How long we keep your data
Emails: We keep your email address for the duration of the validation experiment (through July 2026) and potentially beyond if you've opted in to updates. You can request deletion at any time.
Analytics: Google Analytics retains data for 14 months by default. We do not extend this period.
6. Third-party services
We use the following services, which may process your data:
| Service | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Tally.so | Form backend for email capture | Email, source, timestamp |
| Google Analytics 4 | Website analytics | Browsing behavior, device info, location |
Each service has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them if you have concerns.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Deletion: Request that we delete your email from our records
- Opt-out: Stop receiving emails about Peaks Companion updates
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at email.
8. GDPR compliance (EU users)
If you're in the EU, your data is processed under GDPR. We process your email on the basis of:
- Consent: You actively chose to submit your email to receive updates
- Legitimate interest: We need to measure interest in the app to validate the idea
You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. Security
We store emails only through Tally.so, which uses industry-standard encryption and security practices. However, no transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you have security concerns, contact us immediately.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the experiment evolves. We will update the "Last updated" date if we make material changes.
